Wazemmes dreaming?

🎼Well thought out letters and Merino wool sweaters
Macintosh apples and French sounding better
My morning coffee and reading 1 Kings
These are a few of my favorite things🎶.

Ok so that was just me subconsciously conciously thinking about another newly added favorite thing of mine.

-LILLE -

Oh Lille, is it possible to love a city?  I mean come on it's just a place; a place where jazz is heard in the square and Thai restaurants are flourishing, where bicyclists have no need to fear, the metro is always a step away, trains trains trains, Flemish architecture, art museums, where you can find cilantro at the Wazemmes market, tea rooms and estaminets, Maroille the STINKIEST cheese in FRANCE, people smile at each other, the boutiques are quirky, the title artisanal beer stands for something and hosts not only the international festival of soup but the largest antique/flea market in France once a year.  It's not like it's a person or an animal it's only in the center of Paris-Robaix and has cobbled streets and waffles and a port and a cat cafe and bell towers and shops like Lille de France.  😍 It's not like I LOVE it or anything 😍.

Ok I kind of love Lille.  I knew it would happen you mix the Dutch with the French and you end up with this weird town that isn't quite Belgian but isn't quite French, they smile here😒.  It's in fact and old industrial town that has recently gone through the process of gentrification *aka hipster town*, the majority of its inhabitats are under the age of 30.  In 2004 it was Europe's cultural capital.  When I started seeing posters and people around town I thought people from Ann Arbor had been superimposed onto the landscape.  It has a long history of being fought over (Gauls/Franks/Vikings/Flemish/French/Burgundian/Spanish/Dutch/French/Dutch/Austrian/French/German/French/German/French)   In any event it is an amazing town, beautiful, full of life and I'm so happy I get to live next to it for a few months!

This statue is supposed to embody Lille, man don't mess with Lille.

Yeah that is a little trailer where you can buy delicious snacks like a croque Monsieur and a carmel waffle
